About the artist:
Jane S Parkes
Jane was born in NYC, raised in a family attuned to nature, music and the arts. Though her father was in the world of finance, both her parents nurtured a freedom of expression and supported an artists sensibility and pursuit.
While raising her own family in NYC, Jane continued her study of printmaking, painting and collage. Her work as an architectural model builder informed both the scale, and craft in her work.
In Janes painting and printmaking her work reflects a modernist simplicity, and a playful ability to capture a mood and a moment, sometime autobiographical, sometimes abstract.
Janes sculptural work combines her reverence for the natural world, and her background in graphic design, creating carefully arranged pieces, that bring found objects into balance, and belonging.
